The Indian industry has recently begun to undergo a major structural shift, thanks to the financial discipline required by the IBC Act, which took effect in 2016, which raised business’ standards of discipline, efficiency and commitment. Managements have begun making efforts toward ensuring that these are applied at every level of their organizations. The efficacy of these measures on factories, operating personnel and workmen is worthy of close observation and will have a real impact on the health and viability of the business in the long term. Garner Varlik Designer recognizes this and strives to help companies and business houses assess and revamp both their working culture and plant operating performance. We communicate with financial investors, lenders, Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs), HNIs and other stakeholders about methods to monitor the health of their assets (invested or held).

As an expert team of engineers whose members each have many decades of experience, we work together with financiers to pragmatically assess the health of our clients’ assets. We specialize in reviving and restructuring stressed assets, and also assist in identifying buyers to help sellers get the best price possible. Our aim is to ensure that every plant we consult for is performing to its fullest capacity and potential.

Present Scenario of Non Performing Assets

Garner Varlik Designer has prepared a short presentation summarizing the current situation with exciting recent developments to do with Stressed and Non-Performing Assets.

In the process of hastening the resolution of NPAs/Stressed Assets, the Government of India has proposed setting up new independent Asset Management Companies (AMCs) to deal with companies having a value of Rs. 500 crores (~ $ 70 million). In response, multiple well-known organizations are in discussion with Indian banks. They are also in touch with Indian Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs). This trend indicates the start of great business potential.

Garner Varlik Designer’s Efforts to Revive Stressed Assets - A New Approach

Garner Varlik Designer is a consulting firm specializing in Project Management and Consulting Engineers started four years ago with a view to offering Value Added Services for industries that have become sick for various reasons. Financial institutions repossess these Stressed Assets and take them to auction with a view to recouping their investment. In reality, however, without servicing the sick unit, they find it difficult to get what is due. On detailed analysis, it is clear that there is a need to do service for value addition for the benefit of the industry (lender, owner) to serve the purpose intended by each unit. The quantum of work is significant, with total NPAs in industry valued to the extent of Rs 9,00,000 crores! Stressed Assets in the power industry alone are worth about Rs. 3,50,000 crores.

Garner Varlik Designer has begun initiating contact and discussions with various financial investors with a view to participating in the business of reviving Stressed Assets. In this regard, please refer to the Asset Quality Review (AQR) of GVD put up on our website for your viewing. We are also persuading the Indian financial institutes to see the efficiency of this alternative approach of value addition by the revival method. Improvement in value is best obtained through the teamwork of consultants, bankers, lenders and buyers.

Opportunities for Global Investors

There are now major opportunities for investing in India. It is clear that the Indian industry is on a growth path in every sector. The core sectors like Power, Steel, Cement & Infra are seeing a surge in demand and there is real potential for good investment. The manufacturing sector is also seeing upward growth. The statistics given out by economists indicate that India is on an aggressive growth path.

Garner Varlik Designer strives to serve the Indian industry in the best possible way. Our objective is to add value to the investment the investor makes. Whether the investment is in a Green field project, an operational project or in Stressed Assets, in every case, we put in every effort to ensure that the investor is benefited.

We at Garner Varlik Designer are working on Stressed Assets, projects or companies which have become sick and look for sale and revival. We try to help the seller identify probable buyers, and also try to find the best possible solutions for the Stressed Asset for its revival. We look for new investor/s for the project, restructure its management, conduct due diligence of the project, find a technical/engineering/process or upgradation solution for the project and see if it can be revived and put back into operation. All these, we target to do within a timeframe of 18 to 36 months, based on the size of the project. As a last resort, we proceed to scavenge the Stressed Asset for recovery of residue value for the Seller/Buyer.

We extend our expertise in a techno–commercial way to become a bridging consultant between Owners, Bankers, PE Investor, Lender, and other potential investor/s and their respective agencies to ensure that the Project/company is revived and put back in operation.

At Garner Varlik Designer, our team of senior consultants, Advisors, Engineers etc makes a continuous effort to see that the Stressed Asset is revived and put into operation. This will ensure the entire stakeholder’s investment is secured and its value addition is upgraded at every stage of its operation. This is our key objective and at Garner Varlik Designer It’s all about Rich Creations...

Stressed Asset Management (NPAs)

It is now understood that the Government of India, RBI and financial institutes are on the path to finding alternative approaches to the normal resolution of Stressed Assets, with a view to ensure value addition and also to sustain the jobs generated by the Assets. In this process, as an expert team with senior professionals, we at Garner Varlik Designer can extend our support to improve the production capability of an Asset (machine/equipment/system), so as to ensure value addition and continuation of jobs along with the Asset, i.e. rehabilitation of the stressed units with the adoption of updated technological processes and total quality management.

There is a need for integration of systems for operations instead of salvaging piece by piece. For example, today’s projection of surplus power may turn out to be a shortage after two to three years with added infrastructure and the economy drive taking place in general, and the demand for electrical vehicle charging in particular. The addition of housing alone (18 million units) will raise the demand by 9000 MW. Economists are foreseeing 5 -6 % extra demand in the future up to 2030, and the total requirement will be about 860 GW (860000 MW) in place of the current 350 GW. Realistic solutions lie in balancing the thermal and renewable energy sources to manage the grid and also the normal load to peak loads in varying seasons (summer to winter/rainy).

Rehabilitation by seeking alternative approaches to salvage will be the need of the hour in the interests of our nation’s growth.
